About

We spent two years watching dentists work.

The common thread was always the same — brilliant clinicians losing evenings to paperwork. Orelis is our answer.

Why we built Orelis

The dentist is the clinician. The AI is the scribe.

We spent two years watching dentists work — in single-chair practices, in five-op groups, at the end of long days when the last patient had gone home and the charts were still open. The common thread was the same every time: brilliant clinicians losing evenings to paperwork.

The obvious question was whether AI should help. The obvious answer was yes — but not in the place it was being marketed. The clinical call is the dentist's. The diagnosis is the dentist's. The treatment plan is the dentist's. What AI can do is draft the SOAP note, write the patient explanation, compose the follow-up — all the writing that follows the clinical judgment.

So we built Orelis around a single principle. AI drafts — you decide. Nothing the AI generates touches the patient record until you review and approve it. No auto-save. No black-box decisions. No diagnostic claims. That is the whole idea.

Principles

Four rules we refuse to break.

Clinician leads, AI drafts

The dentist makes every clinical call. The AI drafts the paperwork that follows. We do not flip that order, and we do not pretend the AI knows more than the person who saw the patient.

Nothing saves until you review

Every AI-generated note, explanation, or follow-up is a draft until you approve it. No auto-save. No quiet edits. Nothing touches the patient record without your eyes on it first.

Useful beats impressive

We are not chasing leaderboards. We are shaving twenty minutes off the end of your day. If a feature does not save you time or reduce risk, it does not ship.

Your data stays yours

Per-practice isolation. Encryption at rest and in transit. Full audit log. One-click export on any plan. If you leave us, we make it easy — because that is what trust looks like.

How we got here

A short timeline.

2023
Watching dentists work

Spent months shadowing general dentists in the operatory, at the front desk, and after hours. Saw the same pattern everywhere: clinicians doing their best work during the appointment, then losing evenings to documentation.

2024
First working draft

Built the first version of AI-drafted SOAP notes with a single practice. Rule from day one: nothing saves without dentist review. That rule did not change.

2025
One product, not three

Merged documentation, charting, appointments, invoices, and money-flow into a single platform. No switching tabs to run the practice.

2026
Opening to early-access

Launching Orelis to a limited set of solo and small-group practices. Early-access pricing — locked in for the life of the account.

We are not building a replacement for clinical judgment. We are building a very quiet, very careful scribe — one that writes what the dentist already decided, and nothing more.
— The Orelis team
Team

Roles, not headshots.

We're a small team of product, engineering, design, and clinical advisors — most of us still ship code or see patients every week. We'll add names and faces here when each person opts in to being public.

Product & clinical workflow
A decade building software for healthcare operators. Owns the question "would a dentist actually click that twice a day?"
Engineering & AI systems
Production ML for regulated industries. Obsessed with latency, audit trails, and the difference between a draft and a saved record.
Clinical advisor · DDS
Practicing general dentist. Reviews every prompt, every template, and every phrase patients will read before it ships.
Design
Interfaces for clinicians who do not want another tool to learn. Less chrome, more information, glove-friendly hit targets.
